St Ives/Nicholson frames made of frame moulding made specially for Ashcraft Framing and are designed for art on canvas or board/panel.
Frames such as this were popularised in early to mid 20th century through the work of the St Ives artists in Cornwall. Also know as Nicholson frames after Ben Nicholson, although he never actually used frames of this design, they remain popular to this day and are proving particularly effective in today's contemporary living spaces.
Commonly finished in white paint or gesso and paint they work extremely well for wide variety of art styles. This frame is suitable for art on standard depth canvas or on boards/panels. Currently only available painted, each frame is supplied with all fittings suitable for framing and hanging either board or canvas, please select the support type you will be framing.
If you need sizes different to those listed please call. Large sizes can be accommodated with very large sizes available by special arrangement. Frames can be supplied with glazing, mounts and backing board if you wish to frame art on paper. Can also be used to frame Art with a 3D element with use of glass spacers.
